Hey 626, if you don’t already know him, please meet James. He is from Alhambra, and the owner/CEO of Full Force Attorney and Messenger Service. He and and his family (Elida and Natalie) just joined 626 a couple months ago. I remember speaking with James over the phone and he was eager to get started. The excitement in his voice the first day we met can still be heard today.
I had a few questions for James to help us learn more about him.
How long have you been coming to 626, and what brought you in? I began Foundations middle of October 2014, and began CrossFit 626 classes November 2014. What brought me to Crossfit 626 was the excitement and energy level I saw in the athletes trainer here. Coming in the door I knew this was not an “ordinary’ gym.
What are your favorite skills/movements in CrossFit? Most challenging? I have to say my favorite movements are Front and Back Squats. These movements were not very familiar to me when I first started 626 , and I have already set some personal bests in both. The polar opposite of movements for me would be Rowing. Challenging. To say the least. That being said, I know that with challenge comes results. And to sit on that rower and focus to the finish, regardless of the comfort level, or shall I say Discomfort level, is a challenge. But in that moment when I feel like giving up, I will hear a voice from one of the other athletes in the gym call out some encouragement. Challenging. Yes. Worth it? Hell Yes.
What is your athletic background? Early adulthood I was an avid soccer player. For strength training I began Muay Thai Kickboxing. For the past several years (prior to 626) I did Insanity Cardio every morning, followed by P90x in the evenings. Swimming on days I was not weight training. I’ve always hunted, and train during the year with mountain hikes.
What goals have you set for yourself? Short and long term? Do my best to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Focusing on the challenges 626 will present every week of my training, and listen to my coaches as the years go by.
What accomplishment(s) are you most proud of since joining 626? Weight loss. This was not the intention starting at 626, but a wonderful result nonetheless.
What has been your favorite part of your 626 experience so far? By far, the one on one attention you get from the coaches. The class may be filled to capacity, but the coaches always have a keen eye focused on the athletes , insuring proper execution of the movements. And also the camaraderie among the athletes in the gym gives the working out experience feel more like a “Team” effort than an individual one.
Advice for new/potential members? Join immediately. Come often. And push yourself to do better every training session.
Anything you’d like to add? 626 is not only my gym, but Our gym.
Thanks for the interview James! You can be sure to find James during his usual workout time at 5:30pm.
