Butter me up!
Butter is a superfood? Yup, thanks to a lil’ pal named butyrate. Butyrate is a short chain saturated fat found in butter and an unexpected source of cognitive enhancement, gut barrier integrity, and anti-inflammatory properties. Some studies have even shown positive effects on butyrate on treatment/prevention of insulin resistance in diabetics.
It’s no surprise the the highest concentrations of butyrate are found in butter from grass fed cows… so be sure to snag some Kerrygold grass fed better next time you’re at the grocery store.
