As the 2015 CrossFit Games Open comes to a close, what are your reflections from the experience? Whether you did the workout in class, or in heats during Saturday madness, did it expose weaknesses, or give you new goals in your training? How do you measure your success? What is the Open to you? I know for some, The Open is:
PR time. How many of you PRed your CJ or at least came close to it AFTER doing a 9 minute WOD? It was pretty incredible to see some of you hit your lifetime PR with a jacked up heart rate. And maybe it wasn’t just the CJ, maybe you blew those wall ball reps out of the water! Whatever it was, you PRed in the middle of a workout!
100%. The Open teaches you that you’ve got more in the tank. Because you know that if you weren’t on the floor drooling after rowing and thrusters, you could’ve pushed a little harder. Maybe you learned to better pace your workouts. Going at a sustainable effort, to later push that effort towards the end may have been a lesson for some.
Goals. The Open motivates you to work on your weaknesses or give you new goals. Did you go to bed earlier, or clean up your eating habits because you knew you had to do the Open workout? Did you spend two and half minutes trying to get a pull up, and you’re pissed that you didn’t so now you’re motivated to work on them all year long? Did you think you couldn’t do more than 7 muscle ups but practiced multiple times before 15.3, and surprised yourself when you knocked out 7 more in the second round? Yep, goals…
Regardless of where you placed on the Leaderboard, you all did an amazing job by showing up to complete the workout. Be sure to look back on this next year, to see the GAINS you’ve made since then.
