As CrossFitters, you know all about intensity and hard work…and how much that pays off. By giving it your all every day, you can make huge strides in your fitness, health, and general well-being; however, remember to listen to your body. As you’ve all experienced, there are great days (achieving a new PR or monthly goal) as well as average days. Then there are the days where you can’t lift as much as you should, your pullups and double-unders have gone into hiding, and you feel like a big pile of poop. Well, good!
Those off days are a blessing, although it took me a long time and much frustration to realize that. A disappointing day of training can be a great insight on something else that’s been going on in your life- a tweak you have continually ignored, lack of sleep, poor nutrition, stress, lack of mobility and stretching, or even overtraining. So next time you have a crappy day, give it some thought…it just might be your body’s way of saying “HEY, STOP IGNORING ME.”
So regardless of what kind of training day you’re having, listen to your body and, just like this little guy, remember to have fun with it…
