Quick! You have 15 seconds to answer the following question:
You need to leave your house immediately, like NOW. And you cannot return… And you can only grab a few items to take with you. 3-2-1-Go.
What did you pick? Was it easy? When proposed this question, my response was immediate: I picked up Tucker, my phone, and turned toward my other furry child Abbey (Betty Sue the cat was not home.) Didn’t grab my wallet, or shoes, or any other “material” items except for my phone- which is of course, my connection to those I love.
We are surrounded by so much “stuff” in our lives. Things we want, things we think we need, and things to fill the closet/garage/cabinets. Often times, these things feel important, and consume us with a feeling of necessity… Yet, when it really counts, none of that matters. Deep down, it’s the connection with others and those we love- and everything else is nonessential.
Thinking back, I would have liked to grab one more thing… the key to the gym. 🙂
