The Open begins this week! The workouts will be released on Thursday for the next five weeks. CrossFit 626 athletes will participate in the Open workouts on Fridays. Everyone should register!
Reasons why you should register for the Open:
1. You think you’re not good enough. Wrong. You are good enough to do the Open. When I hear someone in my gym say they’re not good enough to do the Open, it’s a slap in my face, because I invested in you. Whether you just finished Foundations, or still working on getting a pull up, you’re more than ready. Because you made a commitment to fitness, because you show up, because you train, because your coaches believe in you..you’re ready.
2. You’re afraid to fail. You know it’s not your year for Regionals, or you know you’re never going to do a competition. Too late, you probably already have. You compete everyday. When you look at the whiteboard to see how the other classes did, you’re competing. Even if you don’t look at the board, you compete with yourself everyday. It’s human nature to be competitive. When you see your name on the worldwide leaderboard, you see where you rank with the rest of 626, you see where you stand in the world, you’ll be surprised at how hard you can push yourself.
3. There’s a scaled division, and if it’s not where you’re at, we’ll modify it like we do our class workouts.
4. You’re doing them any way.
5. By being registered, you’ll be forced to complete a movement you’ve never had before. In my first Open, muscle ups came up one week. I did not have muscle ups, not even close. When it came down to it during the Open, I managed to get on top of the rings. The dip wasn’t successful, but you get my point. So, when chest to bar pull ups come up and you don’t have one; when a 165 jerk comes up and you don’t have one; when muscle ups come up and you don’t have one; when double unders come up and you don’t have one; you’ll be surprised at how many you complete, because you’re registered for the Open.
6. You’ll have new goals. The Open can bring light to weaknesses you didn’t know you had. You may find new goals during the Open like eating cleaner or sleeping sooner. Or you may find a new goal to achieve next year.
7. It’s fun. It’s fun as f***! It’s a great way to enjoy competition in a supportive environment. We’ll be cheering you on, you’ll be cheering on others, and we’ll go to happy hour. The end.
